Triumph Despite Tragedy

The beautiful, historic Provo Tabernacle is located less than a mile from our home. We were lucky to be able to attend a number of church meetings in the Tabernacle before it was destroyed by a fire last December. The fire was heartbreaking and the loss of such a beautiful piece of history was lamented. As far as we knew, the Tabernacle was being rebuilt to it's original form. Saturday during General Conference our Prophet, President Monson, announced that the Provo Tabernacle was being rebuilt as a second Provo Temple!!! For members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the temple is the most sacred place on earth. This news made me so happy and I have been thinking about the many messages contained in this situation. The main thing I keep thinking is how the Lord takes something devastating or heartbreaking and turns it into something miraculous and beautiful. From our mortal perspective it can be hard to see how anything good can come from tradgey. Yet, it is often the hardest parts of our lives that build us, refine us and make us into so much more than we realized we could be. I just can't help pondering the symbolism of this situation and how it applies to each of us.

I had never thought of that symbolism--thank you for sharing, that is beautiful! And very true. The announcement was certainly a very exciting one!
